Bluegrass Orthopaedics (BGO) merged with Central Kentucky Orthopaedics (CKO) on April 1st, 2016. Bluegrass Orthopaedics has been servicing Central and Southeastern Kentucky for 28 years and has a platform consisting of an independent surgery center, MRI/Imaging, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and clinical space.
Bluegrass Orthopedics offers a variety of services for all areas of sports medicine, including injury treatment, nutrition, injury prevention and physical therapy. We also work with general orthopaedic conditions including surgery for the shoulder, knees or spine.
Whether you have been referred by your physician or are seeking a second opinion, contact us now to arrange an appointment. With our active lifestyles, we often don’t take the necessary time to treat our bodies correctly. Over time or all of a sudden, injuries occur and we need the medical advice and treatment of experienced physicians. When an injury occurs to the musculoskeletal system (relating to muscles, joints and bones) you need the care of an orthopaedic physician.
Bluegrass Orthopaedics Staff
Bluegrass Orthopaedics has been utilizing Certified Physician Assistants (PA) to provide quality healthcare since 1993. PAs are healthcare professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventative health care, assist in surgery and write prescriptions. Within the physician–PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision making and have a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. The PA in each team extends the services of their supervising physician. This provides the patient better quality of care and less time waiting for an appointment. In their team approach, the PA practices medicine in the same manner as his physician supervisor, thus maintaining the same quality of care from physician to PA.
Bluegrass Orthopaedics has 5 Physician Assistants, with over 50 years of combined clinical experience in Orthopaedics.
At Bluegrass Orthopaedics, the Physical Therapy (PT) department works in concert with the patient’s orthopaedic surgeon to ensure the best possible outcome from surgery or, in some cases, to prevent surgery in the first place.
