As one of the founding partners of Bluegrass Orthopaedics, Dr. Lockstadt is one of the premier spine physicians in Lexington and eastern Kentucky and maintains a patient base that encompasses the entire state of Kentucky as well as surrounding states. With extensive training in general orthopaedics, Dr. Lockstadt has specialized training in the areas of hand surgery, sports medicine, joint replacement and spine surgery. With specialized expertise in surgical and non-surgical treatment of spine injuries and disorders, minimally invasive spine surgery, disc replacement and revision of prior spine surgery, Dr. Lockstadt has limited his practice to spine care and the diagnosis and treatment of back pain.
Dr. Lockstadt is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Medical Council in Canada, and by the Canadian Orthopaedic Board.
Dr. D’Angelo is a senior partner in Bluegrass Orthopaedics. Providing specialized patient care in general orthopaedics, he has been fellowship trained in arthroscopic (minimally invasive) joint surgery, including knee, shoulder and ankle arthroscopies. Dr. D’Angelo has a vast number of arthroscopic joint surgeries with a specific interest and expertise in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Dr. D’Angelo has specialty training in pediatric orthopaedics and in adult joint reconstruction.
Dr. D’Angelo received his medical education from McMaster University Hamilton Ontario, served an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital Toronto, Ontario and his residency at the University of Toronto. He is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Balthrop has been practicing medicine in Lexington, KY for over 20 years and is a senior partner at Bluegrass Orthopaedics. Providing specialized patient care in general orthopaedics, he has a special interest in joint replacement, knee arthroscopy surgery and treatment of shoulder injuries
Dr. Balthrop received his medical education from the University of Miami (Miami, FL), served an internship at the George Washington University Hospital, Washington DC and his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Balthrop is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Vasicek is a senior partner at Bluegrass Orthopaedics. Providing specialized patient care in general orthopaedics, she has a special interest in knee and shoulder replacement and arthroscopy surgery.
Dr. Vasicek received her medical education from East Tennessee State University, served an internship at the University of Kentucky as well as her orthopaedic residency. Dr. Vasicek is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Ellingsen received his medical degree from Georgetown University and completed his residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Prior to joining Bluegrass Orthopaedics in 2000, Dr. Ellingsen practiced at the Lexington clinic. Author of many publications, Dr. Ellingsen’s written works include the 1974 Mayo Clinic publication, Pathologic Fractures and Reconstruction.
Dr. Ellingsen is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedics Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and certified by the Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
Dr. Favetto is a partner at Bluegrass Orthopaedics. He received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires, School of Medicine in Argentina. He is board certified in orthopaedics and traumatology by the Ministry of Health and Social Action in Argentina. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Eva Peron Hospital in San Martin, Argentina. After relocating to Kentucky, Dr. Favetto completed a fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Micro Surgery in Kentucky. He continued at the Kleinert Institute as Senior Fellow and ultimately as Hand Scholar. Dr. Favetto is a teacher and lecturer in upper-extremity hand injuries and trauma with an emphasis on wrist and elbow arthroscopy.
Dr. Favetto was one of the chief surgeons on the transplant team that performed the first two of three human hand transplants in the United States.
Dr. O’Neill is a partner at Bluegrass Orthpaedics & Hand Care. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of South Florida, a plastic surgery residency and a microsurgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX) and a hand surgery fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery. He served as Chief of Hand Surgery at the VA Hospital until 1997. He then moved to Lexington, KY to establish a dedicated office to serve Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Dr. Harrod joined Bluegrass Orthopaedics in 2008 and provides highly specialized training in complex reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Harrod has a special interest in foot and ankle arthroscopy.
Dr. Harrod received his undergraduate degree from Murray State University, Murray, KY. He completed his medical education at the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, Chicago, IL , where he was valedictorian of his medical class. Dr. Harrod served his residency in the Foot & Ankle Surgical Program at Winona Memorial Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Harrod completed an AO Trauma Fellowship at the University of Dresden, Germany.
Dr. Huff earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. His postgraduate residency and fellowship were served at the University of Virginia. Dr. Huff joined Bluegrass Orthopaedics in 2010 after 10 years of practice, first in Virginia and most recently in London, KY. Dr. Huff practices general orthopaedics and specializes in sports medicine and total joint replacement.
Dr. Huff is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and has also achieved Board Certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Huff maintains a patient base in Corbin and Somerset, as well as Lexington, KY.
Dr. Ryan Donegan earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky in 2006. He went on to complete his postgraduate residency training in orthopaedic surgery from Dartmouth Medical Center. During his residency he completed a Master’s degree in health policy and clinical research design from Dartmouth Medical School. After his residency training, he completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery in the Department of Orthopaedics at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Donegan’s hospital affiliations are St. Joseph East Hospital and Baptist Health.

Dr. Hunt received his medical education from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, served a fellowship at the University of Virginia and completed his residency at University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Dr. Hunt is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Wilson is a native of Lexington, KY. He graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Alabama Hospitals and his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Kentucky. Prior to founding Central Kentucky Orthopaedics, he was an Assistant Professor of Sports Medicine at UK.
Currently, Dr. Wilson is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a sub-specialty certification in sports medicine. He has served as team physician for local colleges and high schools. One of his passions is medical mission work to Haiti and he had served on the AAOS Ethics Committee.
Dr. Christensen earned his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1992. He went on to complete his postgraduate residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He then performed a hip and knee adult reconstruction fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston from 1998 to 1999. He was the head of hip and knee replacement surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda from 1999 to 2003. He moved to Lexington in 2003 after joining the Lexington Clinic and worked there until 2016.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is an expert in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery including direct anterior hip replacement and partial knee replacement. He also specializes in complex revision hip and knee replacement. He has authored numerous papers and made presentations at national meetings involving joint replacement. Dr. Christensen’s Hospital affiliation is St. Joseph East Hospital.
