Edward Seade, MD
Professional
Dr. Edward Seade (pronounced "see-AH-dee") has a mastery of shoulder arthroscopic techniques. He is specially-trained in sports medicine and adult reconstructive surgery of the shoulder.
He currently instructs and teaches other orthopaedic surgeons the intricate details on arthroscopic shoulder repairs. By using arthroscopic techniques, one can perform even the most complicated shoulder surgeries through minimally invasive incisions, resulting in less pain and easier rehabilitation for patients. He is also advising a company based in London England on a new arthroscopic rotator cuff anchoring device and is doing new product testing for them in their lab here in Austin. Dr. Seade is also working with a US company as a national instructor for their total shoulder prosthesis implant.
Dr. Seade was the 2005, 2009, and 2011 Chairman for the Texas Orthopaedic Association (TOA) Annual Meeting. During his time at the TOA, he was also the Chairperson for Medical Education. Because of his work and dedication for all Orthopaedic Surgeon of Texas, the members of the TOA selected him to be President of the Association in 2011. Dr. Seade has also been selected to be an Associate Clinical Professor for The University of Texas Medical Branch in Austin.
Prior to his arrival in Austin, Dr. Seade was a partner at Santa Fe Orthopaedic Associates, and was Chief of Orthopaedics at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico. While in Santa Fe, he was also the sports medicine physician for Santa Fe Ski Patrol and Ski School.
Dr. Seade is Board Certified and holds professional memberships in the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association, Texas Society of Sports Medicine and Travis County Medical Society.
Personal
Still an avid runner, Dr. Seade was a member of the University of Texas track team coached by 1988 U.S. Olympic track coach Stan Huntsman. Dr. Seade is active in many other sports, including kayaking, water skiing, mountain biking and coaching soccer. He is also bilingual, having lived 13 years in Mexico.
Dr. Seade lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and three kids. They are members of Westlake United Methodist Church in Austin.
