BLUEGRASS ORTHOPAEDICS LAUNCHES ORTHOPEDIC URGENT CARE WALK-IN

TO HELP PATIENTS RECEIVE SPECIALIZED CARE FASTER
Orthopedic Specialists Available Monday Through Saturday
LEXINGTON, KY (March 4th, 2024) - In an effort to reduce unnecessary and costly emergency room visits, as well as help patients receive expedited specialized care, Bluegrass Orthopaedics (BGO) has opened BGONow, an orthopedic urgent care walk-in clinic at their Sports Medicine Clinic on Richmond Road in Lexington, KY.
While Bluegrass Orthopaedics has historically had early morning walk-in hours, BGONow will now offer extended hours Monday through Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM as well as Saturday morning 8-10:00AM. This location and its extended hours will improve access for patients with affordable orthopedic care and access to specialists.
"When injuries happen, often the first instinct is to go to the emergency room where you will receive treatment, but likely be referred to an orthopedic for follow-up care," said Dean Hanlon, Senior Vice President of BGO. "Our goal is for patients to skip this extra step and expense of a trip to the emergency room and come straight to us. From children to seniors, we treat athletes of all ages, and our team of orthopedic specialists are here to help patients recover as fast as possible so they can get back doing what they love."
Similar to urgent care clinics, the cost of care at BGONow is often more affordable than care in the emergency room. BGONow physicians and orthopedic specialists can treat injuries that have been sustained in the past 72 hours, including torn ligaments, sprains, broken bones, and other common orthopedic injuries not severe enough to require hospital care. The physicians at BGO hope this will be a better option for those with high deductible plans. In the past, some patients may have been unsure where to turn for these types of injuries.
"By having this type of specialized care as a walk-in service, we can ensure patients can get properly cared for and on the road to recovery faster," said Owen McGonigle, MD. "If the injury is serious enough to require surgery, we can get that scheduled without delay."
BGONow also offers onsite imaging, musculoskeletal ultrasound, physical therapy, and the ability to splint, cast, stabilize, and care for many acute orthopedic injuries. The clinic is located at Bluegrass Orthopaedics' Sports Medicine Center located at 3401 Yorkshire Medical Park, Lexington, KY. The hours are currently open daily Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 4:00PM, and Saturdays 8:00AM to 10:00AM. Bluegrass Orthopaedics plans to open other ortho urgent care locations within their satellite locations in the future.
