In July, I started a new job at Transylvania University contracted through Bluegrass Orthopaedics. At first, I was extremely nervous to move to a new city where I wouldn't know anyone. During my first few weeks, I was welcomed with open arms by my co-workers and given plenty of suggestions on how to get acquainted with Lexington. I was able to shadow our team doctors before starting at Transylvania and build relationships with them for my future athletes to see them when necessary. Andrew, Nick, Kyle, and Christa have made sure that I have everything I need to be successful here for myself and each of my teams. Having a staff that supports me and my decisions is the most important factor to starting a new job. I am equipped with all the tools I need to be successful here. BGO provides us all with the support to be better athletic trainers and better people. They not only care about who you are as an employee, but genuinely care about you as a person. Andrew treats his staff with respect and checks periodically to make sure each of his contracted athletic trainers are doing well. This is something that I did not know I needed until he asked the first time. Knowing that you have an army in your corner is significant when you are a new athletic trainer in a staff that has been here for 11, 6, and 5 years. I get the opportunity to work with the Transylvania University's field hockey program, track and field and cross country program, and the softball program. I loved every minute so far, and am looking forward to the rest of the year. GO PIONEERS.
